Manor Farm Arts demonstrates how regenerative land management and rural development can be integrated: a means of reviving and restoring local economies and ecologies. As our agricultural lands and natural resources become increasingly pressured to deliver productivity, beauty and biodiversity over the coming decades, sites that can reconcile these demands will demonstrate a way forward for the rehabilitation of our land.
The site has a unique, rich and broad range of land typologies, ecologies and therefore regenerative resources at its disposal. The unimproved chalk grassland, chalk streams and varied woodlands are precious resources to be preserved and sustainably managed. The chalk quarries, lime pits and diverse woodlands also present an opportunity to sustainably draw materials from within the estate lands themselves, and ultimately to develop buildings which are low-cost, low carbon and support local economies and businesses.
