As we look to shift the materials and processes we use in construction in the future, we must also acknowledge the value of the manual labour involved in building today. In this short film Material Cultures explores the stories of onsite construction workers and begins to investigate the state of labour practices in construction.
With a particular focus on the realities of class, gender, race and migrancy hierarchies on site, this film is the beginning of an inquiry into the impact of building on the body, as we seek to understand how the building industry can better serve those who work in it.
