▣ TYPE: Exhibition
⧇ CLIENT: V&A
▤ KEY MATERIALS: Roof insulation / Timber
▦ METHODOLOGY: Material research / 1:1 testing
⧆ COLLABORATORS: Studio Abroad (co-founded by Summer Islam and George Massoud) / Marysia Lewandowska / Michael Marriott / Luke Gould
In collaboration with artist Marysia Lewandowska SA designed the V&A Pavilion for the Venice Art Biennale in 2019. The curved wall of the installation danced around the existing columns and formed two enclaves, one lined in roofing insulation for the sound installation, and the other in a simple canvas onto which Lewandowska’s film was projected.
The piece explored the archival history of both the V&A and the Biennale, retelling the narrative of the Biennale and imagining the institution it might have been had it been founded by women.
